Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) - free antivirus software package from the company Microsoft, designed to combat viruses, spyware, rootkits and Trojan horses. This software works only on computers that have installed a genuine copy of Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7.
23 June 2009 was released on a limited public beta of the product, available for download only the first 75,000 users from the United States, Israel and Brazil.
